5th Grade Starts Self-Portraits

Above, fifth graders practiced measuring out where the features of the eyes, nose, and mouth go on a very basic oval-shaped head. These facial proportion techniques have been used for hundred of years by artists to measure the placement of the features of the face.  After practicing with very general facial proportions, fifth graders will be drawing in graphite from observing their own features in a mirror.

More Hieroglyphics!

More hieroglyphics from our 2nd graders! It's like learning to read and write all over again, but we tackled it!

Here is a student's practice clay slab. The hieroglyphics read the name "Anna".
